Fire at Sapulpa retirement facility causes dozens to evacuate early Tuesday

More than 60 residents of a Sapulpa retirement facility were forced to evacuate after a fire early Tuesday.

The fire started on a second-floor balcony of the retirement wing at Inverness Village, 3800 W. 71st St., about 1 a.m., Sapulpa Fire Department Battalion Chief D.J. Keizor said. When crews arrived, an evacuation process was in process, with 60 to 70 residents leaving the building.

Firefighters accessed the engulfed balcony and quickly extinguished the flames.
