Among the issues heard at County committee meetings were zoning for a fireworks stand, complaints about medical marijuana facilities, and how the County will handle almost $7 million in ARPA funds.

ARPA, passed on March 3, 2021, is intended to help state and local governments recover from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Creek County is slated to receive $13,871,251 in two installments, the first of which is expected to arrive soon.

At their Monday meeting, the Board of County Commissioners of Creek County approved the signing of a letter from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the reclassification of a “functionally classified road” to a “local road,” due to its “loss in connectivity” from an impassable bridge.

There are currently 137 pinwheels spinning in front of the Creek County Courthouse, representing the children currently in foster care in Creek County.

The Board of County Commissioners of Creek County unanimously agreed to deny the Planned Unit Development and Preliminary Plat for Childer’s Creek, a proposed single-family subdivision off South 49th West Avenue, in Kiefer, at their meeting on Monday, March 22nd.

At last week’s Board of County Commissioner meeting, District #1 Commissioner Newt Stephens brought copies of the new County Certification map from ODOT that need to be reviewed and corrected by each Commissioner before being submitted back to ODOT.
