The weather is warming up! Here are the best tips for May to get your garden growing into the summer months!

Carefully selecting healthy plants is important to help your garden dollars go further. Of course, the foundation of any garden is good soil.    

The recent rains are welcome in our gardens. Along with sunny days, the rains encourage our plants to begin new growth.  This is a good time to plant trees, shrubs and perennials so they will establish roots before the stress of summer heat hits.

With the warmer weather, a gardener’s thoughts can quickly turn to planting and cultivating.  However, we all know that true warmth is several weeks away and annual plants cannot tolerate the freezing temperatures that will be interspersed with our warming weather.

Although not every flower or veggie is something to brag on, we all have our favorites that are doing quite well.  So why not show them off at the upcoming County Fair?

The calendar tells us it’s September, and thoughts of cool, crisp fall weather come to mind. What a needed relief for the month to start with a much-needed, slow drenching rain.
