A woman was arrested at the Gateway Motor Inn at 5600 W. Skelly Dr. on drug and stolen vehicle charges after she told police she drove a car that had been reported stolen to a “party room” at the hotel.
According to the arrest affidavit, Officer Jacob Patton was on patrol on the morning of Saturday, September 12th when he spotted a 2020 Hyundai Elantra that had been reported stolen. The vehicle was unoccupied, but the front desk clerk stated the room it was parked in front of was rented out to two people.
Patton and his backing officer made contact at the room with 31-year-old Ashlee Trousdale, who stated she didn’t know anything about the car. When police asked the occupants of the neighboring room, they confirmed it belonged to someone in the room Trousdale was in, but couldn’t say who.
Police asked Trousdale if she had the contact information for the other person staying in the room. She said she did and began searching through her phone. Patton then asked how many people were staying in the room and she allegedly said she wasn’t sure, that it had been a “party room.” Patton asked her to explain what that meant and Trousdale said she and five or six other people had stayed in the room after having a party at a casino.
Patton told Trousdale the reason he was asking about the car was because it had been reported stolen. Trousdale reportedly stated “Okay, I’m going to be honest with you. I drove the car here last night.”
Trousdale told police she had purchased the car from a girl for $3,000 and said she had the keys for the car in her purse. Patton went to retrieve the keys and found a glass smoking pipe with a crystal-like substance inside. She also found a set of digital scales and three empty syringes. A search of the car turned up another empty syringe. The crystal-like substance tested positive for methamphetamine. Trousdale reportedly admitted the items were hers, and that she has an addiction problem.
Trousdale was subsequently arrested on charges related to possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS.
A search on Trousdale’s criminal history shows multiple charges of larceny and drug-related charges out of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Garfield counties.
