A 32-year-old Sapulpa man received a life sentence on Thursday with a possibility of parole for killing a 3-year-old boy in 2015.

According to a report from KJRH, Christopher Whinery was arrested in 2015 when Jason White, just over a week shy of his 4th birthday, was rushed to the emergency room with a head injury after police were told that he had fallen off the bed. Hospital staff told police the injury was more in line with being shaken and being struck in the head.

The 2015 arrest affidavit for Whinery includes his then-girlfriend, Jason’s mother, saying she saw Whinery go into the bedroom and then heard her son being spanked, crying, and finally a loud thump on the floor.
