A man is recovering from what police say are “non-life-threatening” injuries following an officer-involved shooting in Sapulpa on Tuesday morning.
According to Captain Mike Sole, the shooting happened at roughly 8:00 am at the Garden Park Apartments, in the 200 block of North Hickory.

“Officers received a call of a possible stolen vehicle here at the Garden Park Apartments,” Captain Sole said. When officers arrived, they located the vehicle and found an individual sitting in the driver’s seat.
According to Captain Sole, the suspect exited the vehicle and “presented the firearm to the officers,” and the officers shot at the suspect, wounding him.
“The officers that were involved rendered medical aid until EMS arrived, and he was transported to a hospital in Tulsa, where he is being treated.”
In a statement posted to the Sapulpa Police Department Facebook page, police said the tip on the stolen vehicle came from the Bella Vista Police Department in Arkansas. The statement also said that the man was ordered “multiple times to show his hands and exit the vehicle,” but did not obey.
Video of the aftermath of the incident has circulated on a local Facebook group, showing officers surrounding a man on the ground at the apartment complex.

Sapulpa Times spoke with a woman who says she lived in the apartment behind where the shooting happened, with her young children.
“We were all asleep; it scared us all to death,” she said. “I have bullet holes in my wall.” She said that neither she nor her children were hurt, but they were forced to vacate her apartment for a few hours while the investigation continued.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was on the scene of the incident, as well. Sole said they briefly left “to go speak with the other parties involved,” but later returned. It’s unknown who the “other parties” were.
Police have not released the suspect’s name, nor his reason for being at the complex at the time.
