Weekly Sports Update for Monday, August 28th

What a game last Friday night over in Sand Springs! The Chieftains battled the Sandites toe-to-toe for almost 4 hours, eventually falling 64-54.

The team opens up at home this Friday as Tahlequah travels to town. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The theme this week is USA (Red, white, and blue)! Gates will open at 5:30 pm; Ticket prices: General Admission: students/seniors: $5 / adults: $7 (We do accept credit cards and cash at the gate.)

Lastly, Chick-fil-A will be at the game for you to sign up to maybe have your name drawn for a chance to kick a field goal to try and win Chick-fil-A for a year! 

Cross Country

This Saturday is the annual Sapulpa Chieftain XC Invitational out at the Westside Sports Complex. Races are as follows:

  • Elementary girls’ – 8:15am
  • Elementary boys’ – 8:40am
  • V & JV girls’ – 9:05am
  • V & JV boys’ – 9:25am
  • V boys’ – 9:55am
  • JH girls’ – 10:50am
  • JH boys’ – 11:10am

We hope to see you out supporting all of our runners!


The Lady Chiefs softball team has a couple of games at home this week as Pryor and Berryhill come to town. Would love to see you out supporting them if you’re free!


It was a great weekend at the Claremore tournament as the ladies went 5-1 and claimed 2nd place! Also, congrats to Tyla Heard for making her 3rd straight all-tournament team! Also, congrats to Jazmyne Cole on being selected for the all-tournament team, too!


Cornhole boards: The athletic department is selling raffle tickets for the chance to win a set of customized Sapulpa Chieftain cornhole boards!  See the attached graphic with info. We will have these at the game this Friday for you to buy tickets. The winner will be announced in the 3rd quarter this Friday!

Big heads: The junior high is selling big heads!  See the attached link if you’re interested in getting one for your favorite athlete, Ping or cheerleader, band or color guard member!!
