The Weekly Sports Minute: What’s happening this week in Sapulpa sports

Varsity Football

The Chieftains finished off the regular season 7-3 and 3rd in district! They travel to Claremore this Friday night to take on the Zebras in the 1st round of playoffs. This game is one that Tulsa World is calling a Week 11 “Must See” game!

Also, I wanted to take a moment to recognize two young ladies, Ashlee Nowzari and Maria Moreno, who are from Mrs. Braswell’s speech and debate class. They wanted to help recognize other groups, so they did the announcing for all of the senior introductions before the game live. They did an amazing job and we are so proud of them!

Wrestling

This weekend the team competed at the Bixby Open and the following athletes placed top 4 in the tournament. What a great start to the season!

Sapulpa Ping Pings

Sapulpa Ping Pings announced that seniors Brooklin Latham and Emma Williams made the 2023 All State team. Latham and Williams were also announced a 2023 All-Region East, along with Belle Cothren, and Acree Ernst.

In case you missed it, former Chieftains are doing big things in college

Chieftain turned Cowgirl Stailee Heard rocked her first game in college with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, former Temira Poindexter had 26 points and 6 assists to win their opening game of the season at TU. It’s always great to see former Chieftains doing well in their next chapter!
