Tallest Christmas Tree on Route 66 comes to Bristow

Friday morning, Bristow became the home of a twenty-six-foot tall Wisconsin balsam fir Christmas Tree. Though our beautiful tree had a long journey of nearly one thousand miles to its new home, the process, planning, and funding of Bristow’s Route 66 Cowboy Christmas Tree has been a six-month-long process with many people, departments, and organizations involved.

Kristin Weaver with the Bristow Retail Merchants Association said, “I had been attending the regional Route 66 Midpoint Corridor meetings and hearing about trees that other towns planned to have. Then I decided there was no reason why we shouldn’t have the biggest one.” In July, Weaver reached out to Molly and Socks Christmas Tree Farm owners, David and Sherri Hurst, for help in sourcing and setting up Bristow’s new tree. Weaver then went to the City Council for permission to close the parking lot at 8th and Main for the tree’s new home site. With David Hurst’s engineering design and Christmas Tree expertise, Buddy and Robin Beasley’s eighteen-inch diameter pipe for the stand, the City of Bristow’s steel plate, Aaron Smith’s welding skills, Creek County’s front-end loader, and many onlookers and decorators cheering them on, they set Bristow’s Christmas Tree in its stand for the holiday season. A special thank you goes to all of the teams that came together to lift, set, fluff, and pay for this dream. Kris Wyatt, Bristow’s Mayor, personally funded the Christmas Tree for all to enjoy.
