Friends of Over 50 Years Reunited Here Sunday

“Friends of over a half century were reunited Sunday afternoon in a combination birthday part-reunion…Sharing a giant birthday cake and discussing things that happened ‘way back when’ were Mrs. Jackie Bond, at 102 W Lee, and Mrs. Lea Hunt, of Beggs. Mrs. Bond, 93, and Mrs. Hunt, 92, have been friends since they met at Mounds in 1906…Despite the fact the two elderly ladies live only a few miles apart, they seldom get to visit one another. Both agreed that Sunday’s meeting probably will have to last for six months, about how often they get to visit.”

College Scholarships & SHS Yearbook Due Tuesday

“College scholarships brightened the outlook for these six high school graduates. Ken Holt presents first place certificate of a $500 scholarship to Debbie Gubas. Other winners in the contest sponsored by Harrison’s Clothiers and Holt’s Green Spray are Danny Patterson, Carol Griese, Cheryl Maynard, Danny Jones, and Sue Rivers…The SHS yearbook will be distributed to students at the signing party Tuesday in the main hall of the high school. Hot off the press and just delivered is the 1967 Sapulpan! Friends may pick up the annual for those unable to come to the signing party. No extras ordered, so if you have not paid for your annual by now, it is too late. The yearbook staff will again sell protective plastic covers for the yearbooks for 25 cents.”

Heavy Area Fog Reduces Visibility

“Lingering moisture and light winds combined this morning, plunging Creek County residents in heavy fog which reduced visibility in some areas to near zero. The fog prompted the National Weather Service to issue a weather advisory. Sapulpans awoke today to find a dense blanket of fog obscuring vision for their drive to work. Despite poor visibility, emergency agencies reported no accidents had occurred at present time. The fog was expected to lift by mid-morning, bringing sunny skies and warm temperatures.”
