Saturday, November 27, 1909, Sapulpa Light: Produce House Opening

“The Sapulpa Produce Company are entertaining a number of the Sapulpa business men at their new building on North Main Street this afternoon. Refreshments were served and the business men were given rides on the elevators and shown the many conveniences of the new plant. Each guest was given a tiny basket filled with produce delicacies as a souvenir. The projectors of the Sapulpa Produce Co. are showing themselves to be deserving of high praise for the energy and ability they have shown in the building up in their business and this new $15,000 plant on North Main Street stands as a monument…The new building is three stories in heights, 32×90 and has nearly 9,000 square feet of storage. It adjoins the Frisco right-of-way and the freight cars are drawn up to the company’s private platform for unloading. Elevators are in service to carry the goods to the different floors of the building. In the basement of the building a refrigerating banana room has been constructed, the temperature of which will not vary 5 degrees in a years’ time. Sapulpa people can have better flavored bananas to eat in the future as a result. The cold storage refrigeration service of the new plant has not been fully installed but before spring, equipment will be ready to keep all perishable goods handled by the company in cold storage.”
