“Mayor Bone told a committee of twenty men and women who gathered at his office yesterday afternoon that on the day previously he had instructed Chief JAck Wisdom to start ‘cleaning up’ in Sapulpa. He made this statement after members of the committee had complained of gambling houses, lewd women, and other immoral conditions in the city…The mayor added that if he decided to appoint a new chief he would ask the Chamber of Commerce Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club to name committees to select the man to be appointed. The mayor said he would welcome the help of citizens in cleaning up the town…”

Brite, director of the Sapulpa High School band, and five students have been selected to participate in the All-State groups Saturday, December 4, during which the 23rd Oklahoma A&M college band clinic…Participating in the All-State program from Sapulpa are: Patty Bray, flute; Jim Crawford, clarinet; Dolores Labass, bassoon; Phil Henderson, tenor sax; and Susie Jones, twirler.”

The No 4 ranked Lady Chieftains won convincingly 54-33 after a slow start…First-year head coach Darlean Calip went deep into her bench and played anyone with a blue and white jersey. Sand Springs lost an overtime nail-biter to Bartlesville 66-63, The Lady Sandites’ two leading scorers had 16 points each. Last season the Chieftains beat Sand Springs twice by a combined 104-44…”
