Slick School Election Fraudulent
“O.W. Bray, Slick, is duly elected member of the Slick district number 75 school board, according to a decision of Judge James Hepburn, in district court this afternoon. Judge Hepburn recommended to the county attorney that action be taken against the defendants. Hepburn gave his decision about one o’clock this afternoon after having held cout continuously since nine this morning. The court’s order found that Bray was entitled to the office held by S.N. Kutch, former member of the school board. Hepburn…found that there were 160 legal votes for Bray cast in the election, 115 for Kutch, and 45 for Dr. Cannon. The court’s decision said that there was evidence of a conspiracy to throw the election by Kutch, Astoon, Thomas, and Baker. The further decision of the court was that the election was stolen…”

Father Rescues Son, 2, from Blazing Building
“Fire destroyed the teacherage at Lowrance School yesterday afternoon. One man suffered seer burns in rescuing his child from the blazing building. The fire, which caused a loss of thousands of dollars, apparently started from a kitchen range…Principal Clarence Canady lost everything he owned except the clothes he and his family had on at the time…Canady said members of the two families were on the lawn with the exception of the two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Friday, who was upstairs on a bed…Friday dashed into the building and rescued the baby. He got to him and climbed out on the roof and then down a ladder to safety, but not before suffering severe burns on his back. He was treated and released at Curry Clinic…”

Rainfall Finally Hits Home
“The drought that has scorched lawns and wilted shrubbery in Sapulpa and the surrounding area for the past few months was finally broken late Sunday and early today when more than 1 ½ inches of rain drenched the region. According to a treatment facility the last good rain was recorded on June 19 when Sapulpa received 1 ¼ inches of rain. Since that date, the area received only approximately .2 inches of rain. In July, which has been called one of the hottest months in history, only .16 inches of precipitation was recorded…”

County to Discuss Parking Lot
“Creek County Commissioners will discuss an interlocal agreement with the City of Sapulpa at their meeting Monday. It concerns the construction and maintenance of the courthouse complex parking lot. Commissioners approved the latest plan for the parking lot, which will service the County Courthouse, Jail, Collins Building, and Department of Human Services Building. The plan calls for the closure of Elm St between Lee and Dewey Ave and the establishment of ‘green space’ as well as parking lots. Current progress has been made directly east of the Courthouse as an old filling station was demolished and gasoline storage tanks removed. The lot was then graveled for parking future plans call for paving of the area…”
