“This is the 95th Christmas for Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold, a resident of Sapulpa since 1904. A gallant lady who will be 95-years-old Jan 25 of next year, Mrs. Arnold, despite fading eyesight and trembling hands, is as excited about Christmas as any 4-year-old tot. Mrs. Arnold, who lives with her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Marsh, at 316 S Poplar, was busy last week preparing for Christmas. She made numerous hot pads and table mats as gifts for all her friends…”

“Local merchants as a whole Tuesday reported Christmas business was better this year than last year, while a check of some 20-odd business firms showed several watching the year-end business before they said what kind of year it was as a whole. Contrary to past years, the last shopping day before Christmas, was one of the best days at many firms. One merchants described business as a ‘real floor stomper,’ and reported the largest single day’s receipts in the store’s history. Of the 21 firms polled, not a single one reported Christmas business below last year and two firms, one in a new location and the other sponsoring a holiday promotion, reported sales increases of 30 to 50 percent…”

“Hats off to the Singing Blue Birds of Kiefer who made a big effort during Camp Fire’s Annual candy sale to earn enough money to buy a box of candy for every patient in Arnolds, Porters, and Ranch Terrace Nursing Homes. Men and women patients who are not able to eat the candy received a handkerchief gift instead. Mrs. Cumby, grandmother to one of the group members, helped the girls accomplish their goal by baking and selling cakes and using the money she received to buy boxes of candy. In all the girls and leaders, Mrs. Betty Ellis and Mrs. Allen delivered one hundred and ten boxes of Stover’s candy and eighteen handkerchiefs…”
