Sunday morning, the neighboring city of Kiefer was visited by the fourth destructive fire in the present year. This time the blaze was on the west side of the city, the other three being on the east side. Fire was discovered in the rear of a rooming house and is supposed to have caught from a hot plate. The alarm was sounded but before the fire could be gotten under control six buildings were destroyed. One was occupied by a rooming house, another by a general store, a third by a paint shop, and others were dwellings. The loss was about $5,000 on which there was but little insurance.”
