Sapulpa Schools says clear bag policy to remain in effect for the remainder of season

The new “clear bag” security policy implemented in the wake of the Choctaw-Del City football game shooting that left 1 teenager and injured several others, along with the incidents at Booker T. Washington and Pryor football games, will remain in effect for the remainder of the season.

Here is the full statement from Sapulpa Public Schools:

Dear Chieftains, parents and guardians,

For this Friday’s Homecoming football game at Collins Stadium, and throughout the season, the clear bag policy remains in effect for all spectators and visitors. 

Fans are able to carry the following style and size bag or package into the stadium:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ 
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, approximately 4.5” x 6.5”, with or without a handle or strap, can be taken into Collins Stadium with one of the clear plastic bags.
  • Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items or diaper bags (subject to search)
  • Chieftains logo clear bags are available at the Chieftain Athletics office at Sapulpa High School during school hours ($8 – small, $10- large, while supplies last)

These rules will also be in effect:

  • No re-entry after leaving the stadium
  • No entry after half-time
  • Students in 8th – 12th grades must have their current school ID to enter the game
  • If students in 8th – 12th grades do not have their current school ID, they must be accompanied by a guardian or an adult, or they cannot enter the stadium
  • Students in PK – 7th grades must be accompanied by an adult, or they cannot enter the stadium
  • Parents of unaccompanied students will be contacted
  • No firearms or weapons of any kind
  • No alcohol
  • No coolers
  • No footballs, beach balls, baseballs, etc.
  • No laser pointers
  • No pets with the exception of service animals

Please remember, if you see something, say something. If you see or hear anything suspicious, report it to the nearest security officer or an SPS staff member.

The Homecoming festivities start Thursday, September 21, with the parade on Dewey from Poplar to Mission. It begins at 6:30 p.m. The Homecoming processional and coronation precede the game on Friday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff at 7 p.m.
