SAPULPA – Summer is here, and to help keep residents safe and cool in the heat, Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company (OG&E) recently donated fans to seniors and families with low-income in the Sapulpa area.
Dozens of OG&E volunteers handed out 125 fans in the Sapulpa area to those who may be at higher risk for heat-related injury and illness. To help fans reach those most in need, OG&E partnered with local organizations that serve these vulnerable populations, including the Beggs Housing Authority, Bristow Social Services, Caring Community Friends in Sapulpa, Mercy Mission II in Glenpool, and senior centers in Jennings, Oilton and Morrison.
“We want to help our customers stay safe, comfortable and cool this summer,” said Tammy Taylor, community affairs manager at OG&E. “Our fan donation program allows us to support and serve our communities when the heat sets in and creates dangerous conditions.”

Fans are a simple yet effective way to provide relief from high temperatures and humidity. Additionally, fans help conserve energy, which in turn saves customers money on their bills. In total, OG&E is donating 1,800 fans to residents in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
“We appreciate OG&E’s partnership in donating fans this summer to assist members of our community,” said Phyllis Helms, director at the Jennings Senior Center. “Their continued investments improve our community year after year.”
The Longhorn Cafe and Mercantile in Jennings hosted a special fan delivery event for senior citizens. Every resident who picked up a fan at the cafe also received a free iced tea and learned about how OG&E’s energy efficiency programs can help them conserve energy and save money.
“We try to be a place where our neighbors can come together and get what they need,” said Roni Johnson, owner of Longhorn Cafe and Mercantile. “OG&E helps us support our seniors and show up for our community.”
Two generous partners, Skyline and C-Line Services, Inc., helped make this year’s fan donations possible. Skyline donated $7,500 to offset the costs of fans while C-Line Services, Inc. transported the fans.
This is the 19th year that OG&E is donating fans to community members in need. Since its inception in 2006, OG&E’s fan donation program has provided more than 22,600 fans to residents across its service area.
Another way OG&E helps customers stay safe during the hottest months of the year is by partnering with local libraries, churches, senior centers and other locations to open Cool Zones across its service area. Cool Zones provide heat-wary residents a place to go and escape the heat during the hottest times of the day. A list of the 2025 Cool Zones is available at oge.com/coolzones.
