According to Captain Troy Foreman, a juvenile said to be a male in the “mid-to-late teens” entered the Sapulpa Taco Bell fast food restaurant on East Taft Avenue at about 2:00 p.m. and was bleeding from the hand.

A customer at the store allegedly notified police, who responded, and when they questioned the juvenile, they discovered he was actually suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand.

Foreman said the juvenile, who was himself armed, told police that he was walking the trails at Kelly Lane and had “been shot at,” and that the perpetrator had shot “from a distance, like across the street.”

Police say that, upon further inspection, they determined the gunshot wound to be self-inflicted. They questioned the juvenile about the nature of the wound, but they say he refused to admit the wound was self-inflicted.

Police say they are still questioning the individual and are not currently looking at any other suspects.

They also said they have not yet drawn any connection between this juvenile and the one that was identified in the shooting outside of the high school late last month.

Sapulpa Public Schools delayed bus routes in the area on Wednesday afternoon while the police investigated the situation.
