Sapulpa police have identified the victim in the auto-pedestrian accident that happened late Friday night.

The incident occurred just after 11:30 pm on Taft Ave, just east of S. Cheyenne Rd. According to police, 66-year-old Kenneth Tutor was crossing Taft when he was struck by a driver traveling westbound on Taft/Hwy 117.

Location of the auto-pedestrian accident on Friday, May, 27th.

Sapulpa Times spoke with Officer Randal Arnold, who worked the scene that evening, and said that a combination of no sidewalks on that portion of Taft Ave, and the fact that the area is not well-lit all contributed to the accident. “There is a shoulder, but no sidewalks there,” he said.

Arnold said there was no evidence of any impairment or speeding on the part of the driver. Tutor was pronounced deceased at the scene.
