Sapulpa police have confirmed an arrest after a shooting at a motel in the area east of Sapulpa left a 17-year-old juvenile dead.
Kamyra Shavon Smallwood, 24, was arrested after Sapulpa police responded to a weapons complaint at the Regency Inn, located in the area formerly known as Town West.

According to Sapulpa Police Captain Troy Foreman, police arrived on the scene at about 9:30 pm on Thursday, July 24th, after an unidentified female flagged them down about someone at the motel having a gun in her room.
Police entered the room to find a 17-year-old juvenile deceased from a bullet wound to the chest.
Police say there were three people in the room at the time of the shooting. Foreman told Sapulpa Times the three knew each other, but said he was unsure of the nature of their relationship. “I don’t think they knew each other very long before this,” he said. “Probably more of an acquaintance than a friendship.”
Foreman confirmed that there had been approximately 5 shots fired from a semi-automatic handgun. Police are still not sure of what caused the incident, only categorizing it as “some sort of disturbance.”
Police said the victim—whose mother was in a nearby room—is not from Sapulpa. His name has not been released.
