Sapulpa police arrested a woman last Thursday over a stolen firearm, according to an arrest affidavit received by Sapulpa Times.
According to the arrest affidavit, Sapulpa police were dispatched to a residence on East Jackson Avenue on a report of a stolen firearm. When Officer Jacob Byram arrived, he was met by the victim, whose name was redacted in the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the victim said a woman was at his house on East Jackson Avenue on Thursday afternoon “helping him pay a bill.” The victim told police he knew the woman through a mutual friend but didn’t know her name.
According to the report, the victim said his firearm—a Smith and Wesson .38 Special sitting near a toolbox in his garage—went missing 5 minutes later. The man confronted the woman about it but she denied taking the gun. She left soon after and told him she was “going to McDonalds.”
Police spotted a woman matching the suspect’s description near the 1700 block of South Main and found the stolen firearm in her purse. The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Heather Horse by her Tribal ID. Horse admitted to stealing the gun and asked police if she could simply return it and apologize.
Horse, who is a member of the Cherokee Nation, has multiple felony charges for possession of stolen property, grand larceny, and burglary, according to the arrest affidavit. Police say she was also wearing an ankle monitor as a condition of her bond from Tribal Courts at the time of her arrest.
Horse was arrested on charges of burglary and receiving stolen property. She was held for Tribal police at Creek County Justice Center.
