Sapulpa police are investigating after finding a man dead of a gunshot wound

Sapulpa Police are assisting OSBI in looking for suspects in what they say could be Sapulpa’s first homicide of 2024.

On Thursday, July 4th, Sapulpa police responded to a 911 call about a “man lying in their front yard, unresponsive,” at the 400 block of N. Johannes Street in Sapulpa.

Upon arrival, police found a man, deceased from a gunshot wound to the chest, Sapulpa Police Captain Mike Sole told Sapulpa Times.

The man has since been identified as 34-year-old Brandon Smith.

Smith was a music artist, who went by the name Brando West. Friends and family have been tagging his social media pages with messages of shock and at his sudden death.

A balloon release was planned for Friday at 6:00 pm.
