Sapulpa FFA members spent the summer attending leadership programs, career-development camps and service activities in Oklahoma and Washington, D.C.
According to a submitted statement, five Sapulpa FFA members: Finley Yocham, Ruby Robinson, Olivia Harris, Leo Enlow and Allie Enlow, attended the AFR Leadership Summit. The program’s “Beyond the Summit” theme encouraged participants to apply the leadership skills they learned after returning home.
Several members also attended Alumni Leadership Camp at Camp Tulakogee. Stella Kellogg, Allie Enlow, Ruby Robinson, Olivia Harris, Leo Enlow and Finley Yocham participated in small-group activities, a ropes course and water Olympics designed to strengthen leadership skills and encourage students to step outside their comfort zones.
Paxton Yoshimoto focused on career-development skills by attending Meat Judging Camp at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. Sapulpa FFA said the experience allowed Yoshimoto to refine his knowledge in preparation for the spring Career Development Event season.
Leo Enlow participated in two additional leadership programs during the summer.
At Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture, Enlow studied different leadership styles, servant leadership and effective communication. The program also included ropes-course activities and volunteer work at a community food bank.
Enlow later traveled to Washington, D.C., for the Washington Leadership Conference. During the trip, he joined other Oklahoma FFA members in visiting national monuments and memorials while taking part in activities focused on leadership development.
Sapulpa FFA said the summer programs allowed members to return to school with new skills and experiences they can apply during the coming year.
The activities reflected the opening lines of the FFA motto: “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn.”
