SAPULPA – Reed Architecture and Interiors will sponsor Sapulpa High School football game broadcasts this season on ESPN Radio Tulsa, 99.9 FM and 1550 AM.
The Chieftains season begins with an Aug. 25 game at Sand Springs High School. It ends Nov. 3 with a Senior Night home game against Tulsa’s East Central High School. Reed Architecture will continue its sponsorship should Sapulpa make the state playoffs.
“I’m very excited by this,” said Reed, who started his firm in 2009. “I feel very blessed to be a part of the Sapulpa community and very grateful for this opportunity.”
This sponsorship extends Reed Architecture’s extensive ties to Sapulpa Public Schools. In 2016, his firm completed a renovation of the George F. Collins Stadium, home to the Chieftains. Reed Architecture then designed the Westside Sports Complex, which serves Sapulpa High’s soccer, cross country, and track and field programs. The Reed team also renovated the high school band facilities. All three projects were part of the 2014 Chieftain Strong Bond.
In 2022, the Sapulpa Public Schools Board of Education awarded a new middle and high school design contract to Reed Architecture, who teamed with DLR Group and Nabholz for this project. On Sept. 12, Sapulpa voters will consider the two-part, $279.2 million Chieftain Stronger Bond package to fund these improvements.
“I appreciate this chance to give back to those who provided such great memories and opportunities to my team and family,” said Reed, reflecting on a personal history with SPS and the city. His wife Lori grew up in Sapulpa and serves the community as a first-grade teacher at the same school she attended as a first grader. David volunteered for numerous community activities as their two children attended Sapulpa district schools.
In 2020, Reed Architecture moved its headquarters to 18 E. Hobson Ave. in Historic Downtown Sapulpa. That office showcases artworks by SPS students from the fifth through 12th grades. The firm also has backed the Sapulpa Ping Pings dance team, the Future Farmers of America, and various sports and band efforts.
David and his team are active members of the Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce, Sapulpa Main Street, and other community organizations. In 2022, the city named Reed Architecture project manager of downtown’s development master plan.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the warm reception we received, not just for me but everybody on my team,” said Reed. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the second half of my career, if you will, then by working on all these projects for my hometown.”
These efforts demonstrate Reed Architecture’s mission to serve by design.
“Now that I’m no longer climbing that corporate ladder, I intend to spend more time helping others be successful,” said Reed, a past president of AIA Oklahoma and AIA Eastern Oklahoma. “I can’t imagine a better way to finish my career than serving the community I’ve called home for the last 20-plus years.”
