Photos: Sweltering heat brings a smaller crowd but great music to Rock The Block

Thursday’s Rock the Block event in downtown Sapulpa was another hit, despite the extreme heat. Great music by Weston Horn and The Hush was good enough to make people forget about the heat for awhile.

The event was hosted Sapulpa Main Street, and this month’s event was sponsored by Sapulpa’s local Tulsa Teachers Credit Union.

Two food trucks made for great dinner plans; hometown favorite Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant, and one from West Tulsa called Meltdown Gourmet Grilled Cheese.

The eight-member band, led by “Thunderpapa,” Weston Horn, has Sapulpa ties. Horn said he used to play hockey in Sapulpa.

Their Facebook page says their genre spans from Rock’n’Roll to Funk and Soul, and they brought it in spades on Thursday.

The heat was bearable in the shade and under the provided tents, but there was a noticeably smaller turnout, in both car enthusiasts, children, and general patrons, than last month’s event.
