(SPS) — Chieftain Athletics held its second ChieftainStrong Community Service Day Wednesday, and the theme was “Christmas in July.”

Approximately 150 students gathered in Sapulpa High School gym to help assemble more than 30,000 Christmas lights. They finished in record time, racing one another to complete their tasks in just a couple of hours!

The Christmas lights will be used to decorate Sapulpa’s Route 66 Christmas Chute, a unique way the community will celebrate the holidays while also drawing visitors to downtown Sapulpa.

Students will take part in a leadership retreat later this summer as part of their ongoing community and leadership development program.
