Oklahoma Natural gas issued a statement on Monday afternoon that due to the duration of the exceedingly cold temperatures, natural gas suppliers are experiencing freezing gas wells. This has the potential to significantly impact the amount of gas provided to ONG. Thus, we could see widespread outages across ONG’s service area. This would result in homes and businesses losing gas service.
The gas utility stated that when a supplier’s processing plant “goes down,” and service is lost, restoration may be a protracted procedure. Once the distribution system is fully functional, ONG will have to go to each home and business to “relight” gas service.
ONG is asking its customers to please reduce natural gas consumption until further notice.
