One person injured in shooting at Hickory South Addition

One person is in the hospital after Sapulpa Police responded to a call of a shooting at the Hickory South Addition sometime before 10:00 pm on Tuesday night.

According to officers at the scene, police responded to a call of a possible shooting and arrived to find a young adult male, believed to be in his twenties to thirties, with at least one gunshot wound. The man was found at the playground near the entrance of the addition.

Sapulpa Police Chief Mike Reed confirmed with Sapulpa Times on Wednesday morning that the shooting was the result of an attempted break-in. As of Tuesday night, he was told the person’s injuries were not life-threatening but had no update on his condition as of Wednesday morning.

Police say they do not have anyone in custody at this time. Because the situation involves someone with tribal affiliation, the investigation will be turned over to the Creek Nation Lighthorsemen.

Police currently have the playground and adjacent house at the corner of Fairlane Place and Cedar Drive surrounded with yellow police tape. Clayton said the playground may be blocked off for an undetermined amount of time.
