Wanda Shelton

Wanda “Jean” (Norris) Shelton was born in Pateros, Washington on October 4, 1946 to Lloyd and Helen (Lytle) Norris. She passed away February 11, 2019 at the age of 72.

Jean grew up in Kiefer and attended Kiefer schools. She worked as a custodian for Jenks Schools. Jean was very family oriented and would do anything for her family, always putting them before herself. She loved spending time with her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean was a fabulous mother and grandmother. She was loving and affectionate and always willing to get down on the floor to play with her grandchildren. She was known for always sneaking the little grandchildren pieces of chocolate and drinks of Pepsi. She had a feisty sense of humor, and always made the funniest comments, that were surprising, coming from such a sweet little woman. She was never afraid to give someone a piece of her mind! She looked forward to the flowers in her garden & on the bushes/trees at her house, blooming every year. She liked to sit on the porch and enjoy a cup of coffee by herself or with company.

Jean enjoyed family dinners both in her home and in her children’s homes. She was a good cook and made the best Strawberry Cake and Red Cake. Her family wanted her to make them for every occasion. She was an inspirational woman, that taught her granddaughters how to cook and especially clean (the Grandma Jeannie way). She was one of the best housekeepers and everyone that knew Jean, knew she loved a clean space and kept everything spotless. She also started the family tradition of having sandwiches on Christmas Eve. She was always positive and smiling, even throughout her illness.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Lloyd Norris; sister Norma Lackey; and daughter-in-law Becky Shelton. She is survived by her 3 sons Johnny Shelton and wife Cathie, Jerry Shelton and wife Kathy, and Brad Shelton; grandchildren Cody Shelton, Johnna Shelton, Roman Shelton, Megan Shirel, Dustin Shelton, Kendra Russell, Morgan Shelton, Chance Marsey, Diamond Hutson, Kie’ Anna Shelton, and Shania Shelton; great-grandchildren Liam Russell, Eden Russell, Tanner Shirel, Camden Shirel, Ember Shelton, Savanna Marsey, Maci Marsey, Reed Marsey, Andrik Shelton, Ava Shelton, Josslyn Hutson and Nami Shelton; siblings D’Wayne Norris and wife Allyn, and Glenda Wells; brother-in-law Jimmy Lackey; as well as extended family and friends.

She was well loved by all her family. Jean will be missed for her giving and understanding nature, her wit, her love and her beautiful smile. The memories made with Jean have become treasures to her family and will never be forgotten.
