Richard Alan Root passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus Friday April 5, 2019 with his family by his side.
He was born May 17, 1948 to Herbert C. and Opal A. Root at Cowart-Sister Hospital in Bristow.
Rick was united in marriage with Linda Rose McGuire April 11, 1970 in Kellyville, Oklahoma.
Rick was a proud 1966 graduate of Bristow High School. He received his degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 1970 and went to work at Cities Service Oil Company. He was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Chaplains Assistant in the 3rd infantry Division in Germany. He worked for Occidental Petroleum as a Human Resources Manager, national and international until retirement. He then purchased Braces Furniture in 1999 which became Root’s Hometown Furniture with a second location in Cushing in 2009. He and Linda also had Bristow Pools & Supplies and Root Properties Real Estate. Rick loved his family & friends, going to church and working cattle.
He is survived by his wife Linda Root of the Bristow home; one daughter, Michelle Morquecho and husband Tony of Bristow; one son Richard Alan Root Jr. and wife Jamie of Bristow; Nephew, Christopher Root who was like a second son and his wife Jessica of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Jordan Root, Kylea Root, Clay Root, Alex Morquecho, Matthew Morquecho, Jon Morquecho, Heather Gomez, R.J. Gomez & Cole Beaver; sister, Kathryn Armer and husband Larry; brother, Herbert Chris Root and wife Carrie; nephews, Alan, Randy, Clint, Chasen, Tim, Jeff, Jim, Cody, Jason, Paul, Pat, Chris & Lonnie; nieces, Emily, Lori, Denise, Darla, Cheryl, Andrea, Amanda, Alicia & Mechelle; brother in laws, Dave McGuire and wife Wilma, Mike McGuire and wife Lynn; sister in law, Mary Jane Stockholm and a host of other family and friends whom he loved very much.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Roger Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
