Orville Nichols, 88, of Sapulpa, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Orville was born on July 23, 1934, in Howe, Oklahoma to Charles and Alta Nichols. Orville met and later married the love of his life Pauline Jones, and the two shared 55 wonderful years together.
Orville was employed by and retired from Liberty Glass after 42 years. Following retirement, he faithfully worked at the United States Army Corps of Engineers for 25 years.
He enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing with family and friends. He loved jug fishing for catfish and teaching his grandkids and anyone who would go with him how to fish and enjoy time on a boat in the beautiful outdoors.
Orville had a smile that would light up a room and was a hardworking, compassionate man. He loved to laugh, tease, and joke around. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Pauline; son Michael Hughes and wife Cindy; daughters Judy Grigg and Billy, and Paula Simmons and husband Keith; grandchildren Rusty and Michelle Harris, Jennifer and David Eddleman, Chris Hughes and Cesare, Paul and Lizzie Hughes, Richie Horner, Donny Horner, Kala and Kevin Butler, and Daniel and Brittany Simmons; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Marvin, Kenneth, and Jimmie Nichols; sister Edith Watkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alta, brothers Ralph, Earl, Floyd, Oren, Utah, and Austin Nichols, daughter Debbie Wheeler, and grandson Billy Harris.
Services will be Friday, July 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville with graveside services at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa immediately following. Family and friends are welcome to attend a potluck at American Legion in Sapulpa at 105 E. Lee following services
