Nancy Ophelia Edwards

Nancy Ophelia Edwards was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Frazier and Buford Harry on January 15, 1925. She was the 4th of ten children. She attended Booker T. Washington High in Sapulpa. She also graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois with her degree in Early Childhood Development. She married Phillip Edwards, Jr. in 1955 and to this union 5 children were born. She taught Preschool for many years and later retired from the Sheriff’s Department in Chicago. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Sapulpa until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and oldest son Phillip Edwards III, 2 brothers Clark and Frazier Harry, 5 sisters Fable Walker, Helen Johnson, Jettye Williams, Betty Jo Harry and Charlene Hickman.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Jeannie Longino (Gene) of Chicago, IL, Gregory Edwards, Solomon Edwards, Steven (Angela) of Oklahoma, and Jaharri Brownlow (Ed) of Chicago, IL., one brother Wheaton Harry and one sister Elizabeth Hall both of Sapulpa, 5 sisters in law and 4 brothers in law, 47 grandchildren 6 of whom were nearest and dearest to her; Jonas Edwards, William Holt, Veronique Matthews, Michelle Edwards, Brendan Brownlow and Makyra Edwards, 36 great grandchildren and lived to see 5 of her 5th generation grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews near and far, the closest to her heart Vicky and Russ Matthews, and 3 special church daughters.
