Mary Lou Winfield 94, of Sapulpa, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa surrounded by family.
Mary Lou was the last survivor of Everett and Birdie Johnston’s children. She was born on August 11, 1925, in their home in Sapulpa, Ok.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Birdie Johnston; husband Omer Vernon Winfield; daughter Bobbie Ann Green; her brothers; Rex Johnston and Gilbert Johnston; sisters: Dollie Mae Hawkins and Dorthie Nelson. Including several nephews and a niece.
During World War II, Mary was employed by Spartan Aircraft where she met Omer, they were married on August 21, 1943 in Tulsa, Ok. Mary had many career paths including: In 1954 owned and operated a dairy farm in Bixby, OK for 10 years. Then moved to Nevada to assist her husband in turquoise mining for 9 years. She then moved back to Sapulpa where she was employed by Dr. Mullins and later moved onto being a wonderful caregiver to all her patients.
She loved being around family and friends, was amazing in making her turquoise jewelry, also enjoyed her occasional casino time.
She is survived by son; Tommy Winfield and wife Karen of Sapulpa, Three grandchildren; Kevin Green and wife Lindsay of Edmond; Tim Winfield and wife Lori of Wellston, Torey Winfield and wife Nicole of Jenks; two great grandchildren; Ashley Winfield and William Winfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2020 form 5-7pm and Funeral Services will be 10:00am Tuesday, January 28, 2020 both at Smith’s Funeral Home.
