Lola Poe, age 90, went to her heavenly home February 1, 2018 surrounded by family.

Lola was born on December 7, 1927 in Healdton, OK to Sam and Nettie Blain.

She graduated from ElDorado High School in El Dorado, KS in May of 1946.

She received her nursing diploma from Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in May of 1949.

Lola worked as an RN in several hospitals in multiple areas over 43 years finishing her career in the obstetrics department at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in 1992.

Lola married her husband Jim Poe on December 31st of 1949.

Lola enjoyed attending the Sapulpa First Church of the Nazarene where she served in many areas including children’s ministry and missions.

The Sapulpa Historical Society awarded Lola the Good Neighbor Award for untiring dedicated volunteer service in November of 2000. She touched the lives of many people over the course of her 90 years.

She truly had the gift of service caring for her family and anyone in her periphery who needed a helping hand, with no strings attached.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lola was a voracious reader who loved learning. She also enjoyed sewing.

She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Becky Courtney and husband Mark, Scott Poe and wife Stephanie, Judy McGowan and husband Larry, Jane Mason and husband Kenny.

Grandchildren: Jeff Poe and wife Becky, Laura Schaefer and husband James, Bryan Courtney, Erin West and husband William, Lindsey Bosworth and husband Nick, Trevor McGowan and wife Adrian, Carolyn Dovell and husband Jerrod, Garrett Mason, Anna Black and husband Clay, Claire Mason. Great grandchildren: Marilyn, Destry, Rhett, and Zachary. Sister: LaNora Blain Barnes as well as three nieces and their families.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, brother- Jack Blain and husband Jim Poe.

A special thank you to LaNita Castillo and all the wonderful caregivers at the Green Tree Memory Care Unit who lovingly cared for her and gave her purpose in the last years of her life.

Services will be Monday, February 5th at Sapulpa Nazarene Church, 302 S Elm at 10:00. Interment will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
