Leon Farmer

Leon Farmer was born August 25, 1928 to Lem Farmer and Verna Lewis in Slick, Oklahoma.  He departed this life June 8, 2021 at the age of 92.

Leon lived his younger years in the Slick/Bristow area.  He attended school in Slick.  He gave his life to Christ at an early age and devoted the rest of his years serving the Lord.  He attended Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bristow.

Between the years of 1950 and 1982 Leon worked at Sapulpa Brickyard and Tulsa Night Club until his retirement.  Leon first marriage was to Sue English Farmer in 1948.  From this union was born Leon Farmer Jr.  Leon later met Marie Johnson Farmer whom he married on March 18, 1953.  From this union Derial Gene Farmer was born.  They raised six children together who all took on the Farmer name.  They raised a daughter, Marzetta Kay Barksdale.

Leon spent his last years staying in Oklahoma City with his granddaughter, Sandra Michelle Sullivan and great granddaughter, Donequea LeShea Farmer and great great granddaughter, Ny’elle Michelle Rose Farmer.  Leon loved family and watching all his television shows.  He was a great man of God who loved to eat and sing and hang out with is grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish four daughters, Diane Tiger of Oklahoma City, Denetta Johnson of Oklahoma City, Della Smittick of Tulsa and Marzetta Kay Barksdale of Southwest Oklahoma; one son, Leon Farmer Jr. “Sunny” of Jenks.  A host of grandkids and great grandkids totaling 107 the last we counted.  Preceded in death are his parents, Verna Lewis and Lem Farmer; wife, Willie Mae Barksdale Farmer; sons, Derial Gene Farmer, Delbert Farmer, David Johnson; one daughter, Debra Johnson.
