Kenneth “Gene” Eugene Long was born January 21, 1933 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Carrol and Mildred Long. He was a resident of Sapulpa, Oklahoma where he and his wife of 62 years, Hazel Gayle Long, raised their children. Kenneth was called “Home” to the Lord on Monday January 11th, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kenneth attended Sapulpa High School before enlisting in the United Stated Army where he defended our country in the Korean War alongside many brothers in arms. Gene wass a member of the Teamsters Union, as well as The American Legion. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Kenneth and Hazel Gayle were married on June 12th, 1959 and they had two children, Christopher Eugene Long, and Gregory Dwayne Long. Kenneth worked at Affiliated Foods in Sapulpa for 29 years where is drove a forklift. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, and was never short for stories to share with those around him. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Hazel Gayle, their oldest son Chris Long and his wife Dessie Brennan-Long (of Wagner Oklahoma), Greg Long and his wife Gayla Long (of Owasso, Oklahoma), his oldest grandson Byron Long and his wife Wendi Long, and their two children Rhyan and Carter Long (of Miami, Oklahoma), his granddaughter Stacey Hudson (of Tulsa, Oklahoma), and his grandson Eric Long (of Lawton, Oklahoma). Kenneth is also survived by his younger sister Shirley Tanner (of Jenks) and two younger brothers, Larry Long (of Saplulpa) and Neil Long (of Witchita, Kansas). Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Carrol and Mildred Long, his brothers Richard and Dale Long, and one sister Carrol Lee Shelton. Visitation for Kenneth will be Wednesday January 13th, 2021 at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services with military honors for Kenneth will be held on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma with interment in Green Hill Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest. Pallbearers are Rick Long, Billy Long, James Martin, and Randy Sprague.
