Judy Ann Shackelford, 77, of Sapulpa, OK passed peacefully in her sleep on December 30th, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Judy was born on August 25th, 1946, to Valeria M. Phillips and Abner C. Shackelford in Sapulpa, OK. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1964. Judy began working for her aunt and uncle at Patterson’s Grocery. She then worked for Whittaker’s Red Bud until it was sold to Larry Reasor in 1973, where she made many long-life friendships that she cherished.
Judy retired from Reasor’s in 2008 after 35 years. She was a very familiar and welcoming face to anyone who shopped there. There are still many shoppers and former co-workers who can still recall fond memories of working and being around Judy today. After retirement, Judy continued enjoying watching her favorite baseball teams, the Atlanta Braves, the Chicago Cubs and the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cross-stitch, and crocheting. You could also commonly find Judy watching the Hallmark channel or the Gameshow Network at any given time unless baseball was on.
Another hobby of Judy’s was her fondness for collecting mouse figurines. She had a large collection which she used to decorate her home. To this day, there are still shelves filled with many different types of mouse trinkets.
The family would like to thank Arbor Village nursing home in Sapulpa for taking care of Judy in her final years. As well as her roommate Marty for keeping her company. It’s safe to say that Judy was definitely a “mother hen” to not only her roommate, but her nursing aides as well.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother Charles (Charlie) Shackelford and her sister Barbara Haley. She is survived by her sister-in-law Nola Shackelford of Glenpool, her nieces Donna Nagel, Katie Rusher, Rhea Kerby and Karen DeArmond, and her nephews David Shackelford and Pete Haley all of Sapulpa, 12 great nieces and nephews. and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.
