Edward Byrnes

Edward Steven Byrnes was born October 18, 1955 in Albany, New York. He was one of eight children born to Robert and Ruth Byrnes of Wildwood Lane (Elm Ave) in Selkirk, New York.  He grew up on a farm with his parents and siblings. They showed horses and competed in the gymkhanas around the area, in which the Byrnes’ placed very well.  Along with horses they raised Siberian huskies, goats, pigs and Eddie trained homing pigeons.

Eddie endured tragedy at a young age; loosing his brother in his arms from a horse accident and his father passing the following year on his birthday.

Eddie went to Ravena Coeymans Selkirk School.  Although he didn’t graduate, he made a successful living in construction work and well drilling.

Eddie and the family moved to Oklahoma where he resided for several years. He did later return to New York where he settled down marrying Lillian and having twins, Cody and Kayla.

After more family tragedies he moved back to Oklahoma. Working on a construction site at a church, he took a significant fall and sustained a massive head injury. The damage was not repairable and would require him to have permanent assistance.  He also fought liver disease for several years.  Eddie resided with an earthly “Angel” his sister, Cindy and her husband, Wayne until his passing at the Clare House on Mingo, where he had his final battle.  At the age of 65, the fight was more than his body could conquer. However, he fought with a smile, a little sass, occasionally a stern tone and always with an appetite…

We know he is without pain and surrounded with the family who went home before him:
