Dusty Holmes

Dusty Dean Holmes 66, of Sapulpa, passed from this life on June 5th, 2021, at St. John Medical Center with his wife and daughter, Shelbey by his side.

Dusty was born January 24, 1955, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Gene and Phyllis Holmes. He graduated from Kellyville High School. On July 19, 1977, Dusty married Vickie Record at her parents home. They were married for 44 years with 6 children, 11 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids.

He worked for Liberty glass for 8 years then moved to IMCO for a time. He started to drive trucks for his dad which opened the door for him to start Holmes Trucking.

Dusty drove trucks for 25 years, give or take a few. He loved being on the road and meeting new people. He never met a stranger and loved to socialize. He had many stories that could make you laugh, when telling his stories, you couldn’t help but smile and listen as he is laughing telling it. He was always helping with what he could and if he couldn’t, he would try to find a way.

There are many things Dusty will be remembered for and everyone that met him has their own stories with him or about him.  Dusty will be deeply missed by all who knew him but most of all by his wife, children, and grandkids.  Although, we all know his suffering has ended and he is smiling down upon us all.

Dusty is preceded in death by his parents Earl Eugene Holmes and Phyllis Holmes. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Vickie Holmes. His children Courtney, Shelbey and spouse Jeremy Graham, Matt, Ashley, Dayna, Kendayl and spouse Billy Wilson all of Sapulpa. Grandchildren Chris, Logan, Quinten, Arianna, Jacie, Micha, Wryland, Wrynn, Wynter, Shelby and Makenzie. Great Grandchildren Elena and Bentley. He is also survived by his brother Earl Holmes and sister Kay Pope, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
