When the road was getting rough and the hills harder to climb, on January 8, 2020, Doris Ione (Hubbard) McDaniels, 89, of Sapulpa, peacefully completed her journey on Earth.
Doris was born to Walter Hildreth and Ina Mae (Rikárd) Hubbard on October 7, 1930 in Chandler, Oklahoma, Lincoln County.
She attended Chandler High School. Doris met the love of her life, Ernest Lee (Mc) McDaniels, while working as a waitress in her Aunt Texie (Rikárd) Brown’s café in Chandler. They were wed on December 8, 1946, in Winfield, Kansas.
This marriage brought two children, Jimmy Ray, born January 1949 and Penney Joyce, born June 1953. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Mc’s passing in 2004.
Ernest (Mc) and Doris owned and operated Mc’s Shoe and Saddle Repair Shop in Sapulpa for 42 years. The shop opened in 1956 and closed in 1998.
Doris was an avid reader and Nascar enthusiast. Books were friends to Doris and her library was vast. She was a silent observer, always in the background, but never missing a thing.
Doris is preceded in death by husband Ernest (Mc); parents Walter and Ina Mae Hubbard; younger brother Chester Ray Hubbard Sr. and granddaughter Kari Leigh Matney.
She is survived by son Jimmy Ray and Jean Stubblefield; daughter Penney Joyce Matney; grandchildren Jimmy Ray McDaniels Jr. and Jeni Raelyn (McDaniels) Wright and husband Bryan; greatgrandchildren Jade Caroline Wright, Mekayla Dawn, Paige Madison and Anthony James McDaniels and great-greatgrandchild Luca.
Arrangements are under the direction of Traditions Funeral and Cremation Services, Kellyville, Oklahoma. Doris requested graveside rites only to be held at Green Hill Memorial Gardens, Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be Monday, January 13, 2020 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow services.
Gone but not forgotten.
