Donald Ray Henderson was born May 1, 1931 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Edward Lee Henderson and Bonnie Mae Henderson. He was the 5th of five children, all of which have previously gone before him. They are Wayne Henderson, Norma Gramm, Russell Henderson and Olene Lankford.
He left this mortal life on the morning of August 21, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Ray graduated from Bristow High School where he met his wife to be, Katherine Louise Goff. They were married on January 2, 1952. He left the next day for the United States Army where he became stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds in Alamogordo, New Mexico during the Korean War where Louse joined him.
After completing his tour of service in the Army, Ray and his new family returned to Bristow where he went to work at Bristow Daily Record before moving to the United States Postal Service where he stayed until he retired as Postmaster in 1978. Louise and Ray spent the next 56 years together before her passing in 2008.
Ray is survived by two sons, Terry and his wife Kathy, Don and his wife Sherri, as well as four grandchildren and their spouses: Mandi and Ben, Josh and Lori, Matt and Amy and Michelle and Rich as well as nine great-grandchildren, Layton, Luke, Caleb, Hudson, Kaylee, Morgan, Hunter, Ava and Macie.
Ray spent his retirement fishing, doing projects in his shop and spending time with his family.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Thorpe officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Bristow.
