Don Mark Engle, 70, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Don was born April 13, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK and moved to Creek County in 1960 and remained here except for his time in the U.S. Air Force.
Growing up, Don lived in Sapulpa and attended Sapulpa High School. He faithfully served his country in the US Air Force and was stationed in Illinois, Oklahoma, and New Jersey. While in the Air Force, Don was an enlisted Crew Member and Airplane Mechanic on a C-141-A cargo plane.
Don moved back to Sapulpa and went to work for American Airlines for a short time and worked for Liberty Glass Co. for 18 years. While working there, he started a construction company and built homes in the Creek County area.
While working, Don always wanted to know what career he was best suited for, so he took an assessment test and it suggested Financial Sales. While working at the glass plant, he started on a new adventure of getting licensed in the sales of Life Insurance and Mutual Funds. In 2000, he left the glass plant and went to work for an insurance company and was hired by Edward Jones and became a licensed Stock Broker. Don’s office was in Mannford until the bank made him a better offer. Don left banking in 2013 to run for Creek County Treasurer, where he had the privilege of serving the county that he proudly called home.
Don loved and served his community in a multitude of ways. He was involved in numerous civic activities. He was the Commander and Life Member of Disabled American Veteran, board member of the Creek County Literacy, 2 term president of Mannford Chamber of Commerce, mentor at Jane Addams Elementary School, past president of the Redfork Main Street, organized 5 medical mission Trips to Guyana, South America, chamber member in Oilton, Drumright, Mannford, and Sapulpa, Member of the First Baptist Church Drumright, board member for Creek County CASA, past board member for Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, board member for Sapulpa Main Street, member of OK-2A and Toastmasters.
Don met and later married the love of his life, Deana and they made their home in Sapulpa. He had a caring and compassionate heart and was always willing to give a helping hand. Don loved all of his children and adored his grandkids. He was loved tremendously and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deana;
Children: Melissa McBlair and husband David, Emily Bogle and husband Matt, Deuce Watson and wife Aimee, and Heather Watson and fiancé Travis Allen.
Grandchildren: Declan, Josh, Maxton and Margo McBlair, Avery and Reese Bogle, Addison, Conor, Charlie Jane and Dax Watson, Ally Rapp and Drake Jones.
Brothers: TJ Engle and Jamie Engle; brother in law Roger Allison
And a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Don Engle and Patricia Ann Lea Engle; his sister Elizabeth Ann Allison and Bruce Engle.
Services will be Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 at First Baptist Church in Sapulpa.
