The precious soul of Dana Lynn Rhodes, 62, transitioned to Heaven on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Dana was born on March 4, 1958, in Bristow, Oklahoma to David and Fayne Bishop. The pair raised their 4 children (Debbie, David Linn, Dana, and Drew) on their little slice of country land and in the pews of the First United Methodist Church.

Dana then attended the University of Central Oklahoma earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She found love in a young coach and was married in 1980 to David Rhodes. Their only daughter, Sarah, came along in 1984.

Dana spent her entire career teaching, in both elementary and middle school settings. As a wife, she showed unwavering support. As a mother, she showered grace and generosity galore. As a community member, she served in the children’s department at church.

Upon retirement, Dana spent time volunteering for Blue Star Mothers, babysitting for her great nieces and nephews, helping Sarah with teacher tasks, and playing with her beloved pups Bogey and Birdie. She was looking forward to the joining of Sarah and Bobby Schaefer in marriage, along with the addition of 5 more children to love.

Even when cancer came for her, she remained positive. Though the world took her too soon, we hope her uplifting spirit will continue to shine through us all.
