Creswell “J.R.” Singleton was born on August 29, 1926 in Hominy, Oklahoma. He passed away at his home on January 23, 2021 at the age of 94. J.R. loved gospel, blue grass and country music. So much, that he started a band, “The Hills of Home”. Then, he played at the Strawberry Festivals, telethons, nursing homes and back yards. J.R. was a wonderful family man. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren and his great great grandchildren. At the age of 94, J.R. still loved playing and making fiddles. To his family, he was everything. He was preceded in death by his parents; Oren Lee and Belle Singleton, brothers; Lawrence, Herman and his wife Nadine, grandson; Shea Singleton, great grandsons; Justen Kent and Preston Edmon, and great granddaughter; Millie Hurlbut. He is survived by his sons; Floyd Singleton of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Wade Singleton of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, daughter; Rita Singleton of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, sisters; Joyce Moore of Artesia, New Mexico, Carol Fain and husband Gary of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, granddaughters; Dawn Kent of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Carol Lee of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Dixie Denix of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Kristin Hurlbut of Lowell, Arkansas, Morgan Singleton of Bixby, Oklahoma, grandson; Braden Singleton of St. Augustine, Florida and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
