Services honoring the life of Charlie Lee Stunkard will be held 2 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday evening, also at Rivercrest.  Charlie passed away April 29, 2021 at his home in Sapulpa.  He was 72 years old.

An Okie from Muskogee, Charlie was born May 25, 1948 to Lee Roy and Imogene (Asher) Stunkard.  He spent most of his childhood barefooted outdoors with his brothers.  Their grandfather worked them hard on the farm from an early age.  Charlie graduated from Broken Arrow High School with the Class of 1966. He served honorably with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

A hard worker and provider for his family, Charlie was employed by several machine shops in the area where he received excellent on-the-job training.  He eventually owned and operated CS Fab, a fabrication company located in Inola.  Charlie retired from American Airlines as a Crew Chief.

After three unsuccessful marital attempts, Charlie finally found a good woman to stick around.  He met Linda at a Tulsa City Limits where she initially turned him down for a dance.  The following week she inquired why he had not asked her for a dance again.  Charlie’s response involved a few choice words.  Linda fell in love with his honesty and the couple married in 2000. 

Charlie loved collecting and restoring Farmall tractors.  He truly lived by the motto, “If it ain’t red leave it in the shed!”  Charlie ate breakfast at the Crescent Café most every morning before returning to his beautiful 10 acres in Sapulpa where he loved tinkering in his shed, mowing, and grilling T-bone steaks on his deck by the pool.  This good old country boy will not soon be forgotten by a host of friends and family who loved him.  

Surviving family members include his wife, Linda (Sherrick) Stunkard; his two sons, Brian and Robert Stunkard; his brother, Richard Stunkard; his step-sons, Tim and David Webster; his grandson, Houston Weidman and his children, his step-grandchildren, Darby, Dharma, and Ivy Webster.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Glenn Stunkard.
