Carolyn Sue Schmidt, 77, of Sapulpa was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 3, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family.  Carolyn was born June 25, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, to Agnes and Bill Thompson.  She met and married the love of her life, Bob Schmidt, in Topeka while he was serving in the United States Air Force.

After marriage, Carolyn and Bob moved to Tulsa where they started their family, then later moved to Sapulpa where they raised their three sons, Dan, David, Tom, and honorary daughter, Rachel.  Carolyn was an amazing wife and mother, in addition to her volunteerism with Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sapulpa.  Carolyn and Bob were instrumental in building what is now Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Carolyn was also a great cook and an excellent seamstress who touched many lives with her talent for making and altering wedding, prom, and other formal wear.  This talent was also extended to her son’s weddings and later to making clothing for her 7 granddaughters and one grandson.

She is survived by her brother Bob Thompson and his wife Jeanette; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Stacey Schmidt, Broken Arrow, OK, David and Joan Schmidt, Sapulpa, OK, and Tom Schmidt, Mannford, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Schmidt of Oklahoma City, OK, Madeleine Schmidt of Tulsa, OK, Samantha Schmidt of Woodward, OK, Sydney Schmidt of Moore, OK, Shelby Schmidt of Moore, OK, Bobby Schmidt, Allison Schmidt, and Katie Schmidt of Sapulpa, OK.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Schmidt, her parents Agnes and Bill Thompson, and her brother William Thompson.

She was a special woman whose kindness impacted countless lives and her legacy will live on in the hearts she touched.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa, OK, on October 6, 2020, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sapulpa, OK, on October 7, 2020, at 10:00 am.  Graveside services to follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, OK.
