Bobby Joe Charles, of Sapulpa, passed from this life at the age of 83 Friday, March 27, 2020.  He was born December 12, 1936, to Vance Charles and Eunice Charles.  He is survived by two sons, Vance Joe Charles, Homer Lando Charles and their mother Georgia Ann Boren.  Also surviving are his granddaughter, Caysea Connors and three great grandchildren, Alexia, Aidan and Liam Connors.

Bobby Joe was well known as a barber in Sapulpa, having owned his own barber shop on North Main Street for over forty years.  During his youth, Bobby Joe had been a member of a band with several of his close friends.  They spent many hours practicing, playing music and entertaining others.  He graduated in 1956 from Sapulpa High School.

Bobby Joe was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.  He was also a veteran, having served out country in the United States Army.  Religion was very important to Bobby Joe and he regularly attended Forest Hills Baptist Church in Sapulpa.  He had many friends and created many memories here in Sapulpa.  Bobby Joe will be missed but will be remembered.

Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.  Visitation for Bobby Joe will be Monday, March 30, in the afternoon and Tuesday March 31st.  A private family services for Bobby Joe will be Wednesday, April 1st, 2020.  His final resting place will be the Freewater Cemetery, Titanic, Oklahoma, West of Stilwell.
