Betty Lou Maggart (Ellis), resident of Sapulpa, OK, passed away on May 26, 2018 at St. Francis South Hospital at the age of 86 years.

Betty was born in Seminole, OK on June 19, 1931 to Eva Mae Barker and Scott Ellis. She was raised in Seminole before becoming a lifelong resident of Sapulpa. Betty worked as a florist for most of her adult years, most recently at Neal and Jean’s Flower Shop in Sapulpa until her retirement.

Betty had an inexhaustible work ethic and loved to fish and cook for her family and friends. Her elaborate home-cooked meals will forever be missed by those who had the pleasure of sitting at (and under) her dinner table. She is especially remembered for baking delicious pies many will never forget. Betty loved animals and always had a close furry canine companion, most recently Timmy who preceded her and Butch who survives with family.

Betty will be sadly missed by daughter Vickie Slavens of Hackett, AR, daughter Connie Watkins, son David Simmons, daughter-in-law Missy Simmons, and son-in-law Ronnie Watkins, all of Sapulpa. Grandchildren are James, Jeff, and Brian Slavens, Heather and Shawn Simmons, Ben and Kate Minty, River and Michaela Smith, and 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, baby brother Scott Eddie, grandson Colby Simmons, son-in-law Bill Slavens, and four husbands Eugene Spencer, Lee Ray Simmons, Bud Reed, and Glen Maggart.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 29th from 5-7pm at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1208 S. Main Street in Sapulpa. The gravesite service will be held on Wednesday, May 30th at 10am at Greenhill Cemetery, 400 E. Teel Road in Sapulpa. Following the gravesite service, all are invited to gather in a celebration of Betty’s life at her granddaughter River Smith’s house at 10707 S Sycamore Street in Jenks, OK.
