Bernice Plum

Bernice Wilson Plum ,83, of Bristow, was surrounded by loved ones as she passed from this life into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father at Rainbow Nursing Center in Bristow on Monday, March 23, 2020. Bernice was born September 22, 1936 in Sapulpa to James O. and Della Wilson. She graduated from Kellyville High School Bernice started her working career as a waitress. She took time out to get married and have her children. When she resumed her work life in the early 70s, she went to work at Bartlett Hospital in Sapulpa in the medical records department and later went on to be a transcriptionist. After many years as a transcriptionist at various Tulsa hospitals she got into Medical Records management. She later got her Associates Degree in Nursing at Tulsa Community College. She completed a bachelor’s program in Medical Records Administration at Stevens College in Missouri. Bernice started on her Master’s degree at Stevens. She had to put off finishing when her husband became sick. After losing her husband she left the hospital work to open her own consulting business. She traveled around the United States teaching ICD-9 coding classes until her retirement. After retirement, Bernice occupied her spare time volunteering. She volunteered as a Docent at Philbrook Museum, as a member of the Salvation Army Axillary in Sapulpa and with the Lone Star Home Extension group. Bernice met her future husband Robert C. Plum (Bob or Plum Bob) in Sapulpa. They began their journey together in November 7, 1955. To this journey they added 3 children, Roberta Plum Stapleton (Robin), Ronnie Plum, Donnie Plum, and Bob’s son Melvin. Bernice was met at the Pearly Gates by husband Bob, stepson Melvin Plum, her parents James O. and Della Wilson, brothers LeRoy Wilson and Oscar Wilson, sisters Alice Jones and Betty Mobley. Bernice leaves behind her children Roberta (Robin) and spouse Randy Stapleton of Bristow, Ronnie of Sapulpa and Donnie of Bristow. Her grandchildren Brandi and spouse Noy Xaiyaratt of Naples, Florida, Randy Stapleton, Jr and spouse Stephanie of Bristow, Megan and spouse Blane Parker of Owasso, Matthew Plum and spouse Brittany of Glenpool, Clifton Plum and spouse Wendy of Bristow, and Justin Plum of Glenpool. Her great grandchildren, Montana, Claire, Grant and Georgia Xaiyaratt of Naples, Florida. Jacob and Jenna Stapleton of Bristow. Cheyenne, Shawntil Bryant, and Jasper Plum of Bristow. Dawson Plum of Glenpool. Hallie Plum of Glenpool. Great-grandchildren David, Edward, Alice and Finnegan Parker of Owasso. Surviving siblings Grace Chambers, Connie Kaylor, Sue Croney, James Wilson, Burly Wilson and Terry Wilson. She also leaves behind many family and friends that she loved very much.
