Benny Franklin Hufft was born January 24, 1941 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Lester and Vernice Hufft. He went to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Connie, on March 1, 2020.
While a young child, Benny’s Mother divorced and married Walter Post, whom Benny always considered to be his Father. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1959 and was a life-long Sapulpan. Benny married Connie LaRue McGuire on June 10, 1961. They built a beautiful life together until Connie’s sudden passing in 1984. The couple had two daughters, Shaunna and Sharla, and they were Benny’s pride and joy. Benny was employed at Tank Trucks, Inc. for 58 years, and was President and co-owner for 46 years. Benny served 6 years in the National Guard. Even at the end of his life, he would proudly remind his daughters about his service and his title of Sergeant every time they passed the former National Guard Armory. He was one of the kindest and most giving people who ever lived on this Earth, and he never met a stranger. When his grandchildren came along, his daughters took the back seat. There was nothing he loved more than being a PaPa! However, his University of Oklahoma sports teams might have come in a close second. He often sat on his porch and watched the Sooners play football, basketball, baseball, softball, or any sport OU played. Benny loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed camping at the lake, boating, being outdoors, brush hogging on his tractor, farming, smoking and grilling meat, playing Blackjack and slot machines at casinos, and raising cattle.
Benny leaves behind his daughters, Shaunna Shouse and husband Dave of Jenks, OK, and Sharla Taylor and husband Eric of Sapulpa, OK; and his adored grandchildren ShaLee Sherrod and husband Taylor of New Orleans, LA, Bailee Durant of Norman, OK, Maegan Swearingin of Summerville, SC, and Cameron Swearingin of Jenks, OK. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Lonnie McGuire and wife Janene, sisters-in-law Gerry Cowan, Roberta Hufft, and Juanita “Suzie” Hufft, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Connie, brothers Lonnie Hufft, Robert “Bob” Hufft, and Billy Joe Hufft, sisters Kay Hopkins, Gracie Hufft, and Cookie Marshall.
Visitation for Benny will be Wednesday, March 4, 2020, 4:00-8:00 p.m., with the family at the funeral home to greet friends from 4-6 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
